At the black area of community image, the value is -9999 and <1, so these values are no useful, and in RECLASS tool, assign a new value of 0. The useful data 0 to 27 assign a new value of 1. The reason why use reclass is that the values are too many, which are not convenient or failed for doing buffer and project, so reclass them to a new class is necessary. The same way also have done for commercial image.
Buffer is a kind of proximity analysis. The 100 meters was set up, which mean the best area for public gardens around each community is 100 meters. According to community was created by reclass, it was not hard to know that ‘1’ stand for community center point and ‘0’ represent non-community center location (we don’t need the other data). In this case, target area is 1, buffer zone is 1, non-buffer zone is 0. The target area and buffer zone should be the same because buffer zone is made for showing proximity area of target area.
